Katherine is the founder and Managing Director of Marland Sykes, and provides strategic counsel on reputation management, regulatory risk, public affairs, corporate communications, policy and strategy development, crisis management, corporate social responsibility and sustainability.
Katherine came to public affairs through law. She previously spent 14 years as a lawyer, specialising predominantly in product litigation and regulation.
She has been working with FMCGs in the policy and regulatory arena since 1999, both in-house and as an external consultant. She has a special interest in public health policy and environmental matters, particularly conservation, and has represented her clients to the Department of Health, DEFRA and other government departments on many occasions. She has also helped develop an assortment of corporate responsibility and sustainability strategies. Recent clients have included Coca-Cola, Mars and Nestle.
As a member of the Physical Activity Network's Secretariat, Katherine is actively involved in the Department of Health's Responsibility Deal.
She is also involved in the political process. In 2009 she was responsible for creating, developing and overseeing the General Election campaign for an A List prospective parliamentary candidate. She has also worked with BackBoris2012 and local grassroots campaigns.
Katherine is a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations and WPR, part of the PRCA. She is a Court member of the PR Guild and a Freeman of the City of London.
